I'm missing all of the fingers on my right hand. How can I avoid shaking hands?
I was born without any fingers on my right hand. It's not much of an issue, but it's always incredibly awkward when first meeting someone because they always want to shake hands. Most people don't notice the deformity until that moment and the look on their face when they feel the difference always makes the greeting uncomfortable. If you met someone in my situation what would be the least awkward solution? Should I shake with my left hand? Go in for the right hand shake anyways? Any suggestions would be helpful.
i would wave to them so they see my hand before they offer to shake it. and if they shake my hand before i get a chance to wave i would make a joke about it like "did your fingers just feel lonely" it would break the awkwardness.
